Becoming Allah's Guest: A Beautiful and Touching
Journey of Umrah
"O Allah, expand
this chest, when this heart feels narrow and constricted..."
I have experienced
difficult trials in life, but they have brought me closer to Allah. After
losing all my possessions at the peak of my career, I felt a deep sense of
emptiness. However, in the silence of worship at the mosque and in bookstores,
I found tranquility and new hope.
I believe that every
calamity brings wisdom. Loss might be Allah's way of purifying my wealth and
reminding me that there is better sustenance ahead. My wife and I committed to
self-improvement and sought Allah's help.
After three months of
anxiety, Allah's answer came in an unexpected way. I was called to be a
presenter, despite having no prior experience. This brought me closer to Allah
and helped me fulfill my dream of performing the Hajj pilgrimage.
In 2013, I started
working as a presenter, and in the same year, we registered for Hajj. However,
Allah's destiny had other plans. In 2014, I received a call to perform Hajj
earlier than we had anticipated. I felt called as a guest of Allah with immense
joy.
This story teaches
about patience, sacrifice, and Allah's love. Every calamity brought us closer
to Him with great blessings. Visiting the Baitullah is a moment filled with
blessings and forgiveness, renewing faith and filling the heart with peace.

The Journey Begins:
Preparing for Umrah
When I received the
call to perform Umrah, my heart was filled with excitement and anticipation.
The first step in this journey was preparation. I knew that this was not just a
physical journey, but a spiritual one as well. I had to prepare my heart, mind,
and body for the experience ahead.
One of the most
important aspects of preparation was understanding the significance of Umrah.
Umrah, also known as the "lesser pilgrimage," is a journey to the
holy city of Mecca. It is a time to seek forgiveness, renew faith, and
experience the presence of Allah. Unlike Hajj, which is obligatory for every
Muslim who is physically and financially able, Umrah is a voluntary act of
worship that can be performed at any time of the year.
As I prepared for
Umrah, I made sure to gather all the necessary documents and items. This
included a valid passport, visa, and travel insurance. I also packed
appropriate clothing, including modest attire for visiting the holy sites. I
made sure to have enough money for the journey, as well as any necessary
medications and personal items.
Another important
aspect of preparation was spiritual readiness. I spent time in prayer and
reflection, seeking Allah's guidance and blessings for the journey. I also made
sure to familiarize myself with the rituals and prayers of Umrah. This included
learning about the Tawaf, which is the circumambulation of the Kaaba, and the
Sa'ee, which is the walking between the hills of Safa and Marwah.
The Journey to
Mecca
The journey to Mecca
was a long and exciting one. I traveled by plane, but many people choose to
travel by bus or car. The journey can take several days, depending on the mode
of transportation and the starting point. Along the way, I had the opportunity
to reflect on my life and my relationship with Allah. I spent time in prayer
and reading the Quran, seeking guidance and strength for the journey ahead.
As I approached Mecca,
I could feel the excitement and anticipation building. I knew that I was about
to embark on a journey that would change my life forever. I could see the city
in the distance, with the Kaaba at its center. The sight of the Kaaba filled me
with a sense of awe and reverence. I knew that I was about to enter the holiest
city in Islam, and I felt a deep sense of gratitude and humility.
Arriving in Mecca
When I finally arrived
in Mecca, I was overwhelmed by the beauty and holiness of the city. The air was
filled with the scent of incense, and the sound of the Quran being recited
echoed through the streets. I could see the Kaaba in the distance, and I knew
that I was about to embark on the most important journey of my life.
The first thing I did
upon arriving in Mecca was to perform the ritual of Ihram. Ihram is a state of
consecration that marks the beginning of the Umrah pilgrimage. It involves
wearing simple white garments and abstaining from certain activities, such as cutting
hair or nails, using perfume, and engaging in sexual relations. The purpose of
Ihram is to symbolize purity and equality before Allah.
After performing
Ihram, I made my way to the Grand Mosque, also known as Masjid al-Haram. The
Grand Mosque is the largest mosque in the world and is the holiest site in
Islam. It is here that the Kaaba is located, and it is the focal point of the
Islamic faith. As I entered the mosque, I was overwhelmed by the beauty and
holiness of the place. The mosque is a vast and magnificent structure, with
towering minarets and intricate architecture.
Performing the
Tawaf
One of the most
important rituals of Umrah is the Tawaf. The Tawaf is the circumambulation of
the Kaaba, and it is performed seven times in a counterclockwise direction. As
I began the Tawaf, I felt a deep sense of awe and reverence. I knew that I was
standing in the presence of Allah, and I felt a deep sense of gratitude and
humility.
During the Tawaf, I
recited prayers and supplications, seeking Allah's forgiveness and blessings. I
also made sure to touch the Black Stone, which is located on the eastern corner
of the Kaaba. The Black Stone is believed to have been sent down from heaven by
Allah, and it is considered a sacred relic of the Islamic faith.
Performing the
Sa'ee
After completing the
Tawaf, I performed the Sa'ee. The Sa'ee is the walking between the hills of
Safa and Marwah, and it is performed seven times. The Sa'ee commemorates the
journey of Hagar, the wife of the Prophet Ibrahim, as she searched for water
for her son Ismail. As I walked between the hills, I felt a deep sense of
connection to the story of Hagar and the struggle she faced.
During the Sa'ee, I
recited prayers and supplications, seeking Allah's guidance and strength. I
also made sure to drink from the Zamzam well, which is located near the Kaaba.
The Zamzam well is believed to have miraculous healing properties, and it is considered
a sacred source of water in the Islamic faith.
The Jummah Prayer
One of the most
important aspects of my Umrah journey was the Jummah prayer. The Jummah prayer,
also known as the Friday prayer, is a special prayer that is performed on
Fridays. It is considered one of the most important prayers in the Islamic
faith, and it is a time for Muslims to come together in worship and seek
Allah's blessings.
When I arrived in
Mecca, I made sure to attend the Jummah prayer at the Grand Mosque. The Grand
Mosque is the largest mosque in the world, and it can accommodate millions of
worshippers. As I entered the mosque, I was overwhelmed by the beauty and
holiness of the place. The mosque is a vast and magnificent structure, with
towering minarets and intricate architecture.
The Jummah prayer is a
special prayer that consists of two units of prayer, followed by a sermon. The
sermon is delivered by the imam, who is the leader of the prayer. The sermon is
an important part of the Jummah prayer, as it provides guidance and inspiration
to the worshippers.
As I attended the
Jummah prayer at the Grand Mosque, I felt a deep sense of connection to the
Islamic community. I was surrounded by millions of worshippers, all of whom
were seeking Allah's blessings and guidance. The atmosphere was filled with a
sense of reverence and humility, and I felt a deep sense of gratitude for the
opportunity to participate in this special prayer.
Reflections on the
Journey
As I reflect on my
journey to Mecca, I am filled with a sense of gratitude and humility. The
experience of performing Umrah was a life-changing one, and it has left a
lasting impact on my faith and my life. I feel a deep sense of connection to
Allah and the Islamic community, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have
experienced this special journey.
One of the most
important lessons I learned during my journey was the importance of patience
and perseverance. The journey to Mecca was a long and challenging one, but it
taught me the importance of remaining steadfast in my faith and seeking Allah's
guidance and strength. I also learned the importance of humility and gratitude,
as I was reminded of the blessings and gifts that Allah
